New Emergency Food Bank Interim CEO - Gillian Murphy

Emergency Food Bank (EFB) Board of Directors President Susanne St. Clair is pleased to announce that Gillian Murphy will serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer.  “As a former dean at San Joaquin Delta College, and director of the Small Business Development Center, Gillian brings a wealth of management experience and interaction with local businesses and nonprofits to the EFB. Most significantly, she and her husband, Gary Putnam, have more than 30 years of involvement with the EFB, as supporters and donors. She believes whole heartedly in the mission of the food bank and its place in our community,” St. Clair said. "I wasn't looking for work.  The Food Bank is one of the reasons why I would temporarily come out of retirement and I'm honored to assist staff and the Board in carrying on the good work,” Gillian commented. Emergency Food Bank Is Celebrating Its 50th Anniversary

The Emergency Food Bank of Stockton / San Joaquin (EFB) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an open house on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the food bank, located at 7 W Scotts Ave in Stockton. This celebration is a FREE event, and will run from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The open house will include tours of the EFB campus, a recognition of donors, and light snacks. For five decades, the Emergency Food Bank has worked to build a stronger community by providing healthy food, nutritional education, and most importantly hope to those in need in the San Joaquin County.  The Emergency Food Bank of Stockton / San Joaquin, founded in 1968, is the largest direct provider of packaged emergency food in the San Joaquin County. Last year alone, Emergency Food Bank (EFB) fed over 70,000 families, and provided more than 6 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy products, whole grains and packaged foods free of charge to thousands of San Joaquin County residents. Mike Donaghy, Stockton Emergency Food Bank Executive Director, passes away

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing away of Mike Donaghy, Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/ San Joaquin Executive Director. The entire Board of Directors and staff send our heartfelt thoughts to his wife Debbie and son Justin, and the extended Donaghy family. Brian Heck, Board President said “Mike was extremely instrumental in helping set the course for continued success of the food bank in serving those in need of our community. He did it with class and professionalism that has been long admired in whatever he did. We will sorely miss him and his wonderful spirit.” Mike helped improve and grow many of the food bank programs including the recent Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday food box distribution, the Thanksgiving Run Against Hunger, Mobile Farmers Market, the student backpack giveaway, just to name a few. He worked tirelessly with donors to update equipment and operations efficiencies. He helped guide creative solutions that engaged the community in rewarding ways. Stuff the Bus Food Drive Collects Thanksgiving Meals for Over 2,000 Families

http://fox40.com/2017/11/19/stuff-the-bus-food-drive-collects-thanksgiving-meals-for-over-2000-families/ STOCKTON -- The San Joaquin Regional Transit District worked in partnership with the Stockton Emergency Food Bank Sunday at Food 4 Less on Hammer Lane to gather turkeys and other non-perishable food items for their annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. The San Joaquin RTD has sponsored Stuff the Bus since 1999. Since then, they have collected over 315,000 pounds of food through the event. The Stockton Emergency Food Bank is set to serve over 2,000 families with Thanksgiving meals this upcoming Monday. Last Monday, the food bank only had about 50 turkeys, but through the help of local businesses and community members they were able to reach their goal.

Stockton Emergency Food Bank Backpacks Giveaway during 4th Annual Christmas in July Event

Published by Caravan News, Friday, July 14, 2017 School aged children in San Joaquin County are about to benefit from a backpack giveaway event. Food 4 Less, Rancho San Miguel Markets, Health Plan of San Joaquin, Rod Johnson Heating & Air and Igredion, will be donating backpacks full of school supplies and healthy snacks to children at the 4th Annual Christmas in July Nutrition and Resource Fair & Mayor Tubbs Backpack Giveaway. Last year, over 700 backpacks were donated. The Emergency Food Bank has invited local families to pre-register for a backpack and to come to the food bank between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, July 29 to participate in the Resource Fair.  Mayor Tubbs will be on hand at approximately 11:30am to assist in giving away backpacks. Backpacks are filled with pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, glue and more. All leftover backpacks will be distributed to those who did not register on a first come first served basis.
